Game News: Play Friday for Jan 31st, 2014

On this week’s Play Friday – video game, TV, and film news for geeks:

1. Topic 1 – Infamous 2’s lack of coop

We’re not really sure why this even made the news but the fact that it did suggests we should address it. It’s a loss, sure, but the other Infamous games were great with just single player. I guess stories like this surface when there isn’t much else to talk about with games.

2. Topic 2 – octodad: Deadliest Catch

The new title in the Octodad series launched to lukewarm acclaim.  We talk about this so-called “fumblecore” game here.

3. Topic 3 – Best Coop Endings

After wrapping up Saints Row 4 which had an amazing game experience but lackluster conclusion, we address other games that did the coop ending better.  Spoilers here, here, and here.

4. Topic 4 – How to Save Nintendo

Last but ABSOLUTELY not least we talk Nintendo.  These guys are in a tailspin right now and it’s disconcerting for us as long-term Nintendo fans.  In one game of Halo, we layout the steps Nintendo should take to salvage the company, ride the current wave of indie titles, and come out ahead of the competition before next console cycle.  Pay attention, Nintendo!
